She will face Elina Svitolina in the singles. Svitolina also played a pivotal role as Ukraine were able to get through their quarter-final tie with Spain. She faced the returning Paula Badosa in the second match of the tie, recovering from going a set behind to win a high-quality match 5-7 6-2 7-5.

Svitolina leads the head-to-head 2-0 and 1-0 on hard courts. They played each other in the first two slams of the year, with the Ukrainian winning from a set down in the third-round of the Australian Open and the round-of-16 at Roland Garros.

This is likely to be close, but Svitolina’s more powerful game and past success may give her the edge.
