Jasmine Paolini vs Anastasija Sevastova prediction
Jasmine Paolini played an integral role for Italy as she won all three of her singles matches in the Billie Jean King Cup Finals, with the Italians retaining their title. Her 6-4 6-2 victory over Jessica Pegula of the United States sealed the win and she will hope to take that momentum with her for the Asian swing. Paolini has a strong record at the 1000 events this season, having won the Italian Open, reached the final in Cincinnati and made the semi-finals in Miami.
Anastasija Sevastova, the 2018 finalist, will be her opponent in the second-round. The Latvian won in round one after a comfortable victory over Australia’s Kim Birrell. Sevastova dominated the second set tiebreak to win 6-2 7-6 after an hour and 47 minutes.
Paolini lead the WTA head-to-head 2-0 but this will be their first match on a hard court. The Italian came from a set down to beat Sevastova in the first-round of Wimbledon this year. Paolini will be full of confidence after her exploits for Italy and should be a firm favourite to win in straight sets.
