Japan won this competition back in 2018 and will have their eyes on doing the same again this time around. They’ve already triumphed in the AFC U-20 Women’s Asian Cup this year, so enter the World Cup full of confidence. Expect them to come out of the traps very fast in this one and seize control early on.
New Zealand will struggle to retain the ball amid a heavy Japanese press and their players are likely in for a long 90 minutes, much of which may well be spent without the ball. Japan have a number of exciting creative players and should fashion more than enough opportunities to win this game by a margin of at least two goals or more.
