Jannik Sinner vs Tommy Paul prediction
Jannik Sinner produced one of his most dominant performances of the year so far as he thrashed Madrid Open champion Casper Ruud 6-0 6-1 in front of his adoring home fans in the quarter-final. The world number one gave up just seven points in the first set and didn’t let up in the second as he raced towards victory in just 64 minutes. He has now gone 25 matches without defeat.
He will take on Tommy Paul in the semi-finals after the American defeated Hubert Hurkacz in a repeat of last year’s quarter-final in Rome. There were six breaks of serve during a first set which Paul sealed on a tiebreak before he went on to win 7-6 6-3. The world number 12 becomes the first American to make consecutive semi-finals in Rome since Pete Sampras in 1993/94.
Sinner leads the head-to-head 3-1 and won their only match on clay at the Madrid Open in 2022. The Italian had shown signs of rust in the earlier rounds after being out of the game for a while but raised his game significantly against Francisco Cerundolo and Ruud. We think he will continue his unbeaten run with another victory against Paul.
Jannik Sinner vs Tommy Paul tip: Jannik Sinner to win 2-0
