Jannik Sinner vs Jesper de Jong prediction
Jannik Sinner made his long-awaited return in the second-round of the Italian Open after three months out due to a doping ban and got off to a winning start. He received a fine reception by the home crowd as he defeated Mariano Navone 6-3 6-4 and now takes on Jesper de Jong.
De Jong, who entered the main draw as a lucky loser, produced one of the shocks of the previous round as he thrashed 25th seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina 6-0 6-2. The Spaniard was completely out of sorts, but it was still a strong performance from the Dutchman who now tests his game against the world number one.
They have played once before in the second-round of the Australian Open last year with Sinner easily beating the Dutchman in straight sets on his way to his first major triumph. The Italian will have lost some of the rust after his first match in three months and we can see Sinner taking it up a level against De Jong and winning with ease.
