Jannik Sinner vs Andrea Pellegrino prediction

Jannik Sinner made it 30 consecutive Masters 1000 victories as he brushed aside Alexei Popyrin in the second-round of the Italian Open. The world number one dropped just two games on his way to winning 6-2 6-0. Sinner, who became the first player to win five consecutive Masters events in the history of the series, is now just one match away from equalling Novak Djokovic’s record of successive Masters 1000 wins. Sinner will also complete a Career Golden Masters with a first title in Rome.

He faces Andrea Pellegrino in the next round. The Italian qualifier pulled off an upset as he defeated Frances Tiafoe in straight sets. Pellegrino, who is the world number 155, is now the third-lowest ranked man to reach this stage of the tournament in this century. The 29-year-old had never played a Masters event before this event began. He saved two set points in the first set tiebreak as he beat Tiafoe 7-6 (8) 6-1.

Pellegrino has been at the centre of an incredible story, but Sinner will be an overwhelming favourite to continue his winning run here.
