Janice Tjen is without a win in five matches as she begins her campaign in Rouen this week. Tjen was given a bye in the first-round of the Charleston Open but was then on the end of a heavy defeat to McCartney Kessler. It’s been a disappointing season so far for the Indonesian, as she has lost 10 of her 15 matches so far in 2026.
She goes up against Anna Bondar in round one. Bondar was able to pick up two wins in Charleston, defeating Darja Vidmanova and Magdalena Frech without dropping a set. However, she was then beaten by 2025 Australian Open champion Madison Keys. That was her best result since making it through to the last eight in Hobart right at the start of the year.
Bondar has found a bit of form on the clay, and she will hope that continues against Tjen, who could be low on confidence after a difficult run of results.
