However, she struggled in the WTA events prior, with first-round exits in Charleston, Miami, Indian Wells and Merida. Despite those recent victories, she still has a negative win-loss record in 2026.
Her opponent in the first-round is Alina Charaeva. She beat Aliaksandra Sasnovich in the first stage of qualifying, before overcoming Nikola Bartunkova in three tight sets. She reached a ranking high of 126 earlier this month. Charaeva has already notched up a title on the ITF circuit after success in Midland, but she is yet to win a tour-level match this season.
