Jakub Mensik suffered an early loss in Rome as he was beaten by Alexei Popyrin in three sets. He did manage to get through to the round-of-16 in Madrid, losing to world number three Alexander Zverev. His early season form was excellent, with Mensik winning a title in Auckland and beating Jannik Sinner on his way to reaching the semi-finals of the Qatar Open, but his results have been more inconsistent over the last few months.
His opening round opponent is Jan-Lennard Struff. The German last competed at a Challenger event in Valencia, losing in the first-round to Nicolas Alvarez Varona. Struff has lost 13 of his 21 matches in 2026, and is yet to go beyond round three of an event so far.
Mensik has not been at his best recently, while his strong first serve is not as powerful on this surface. Nevertheless, given the opponent, he is a clear favourite to come out on top.
