Jacob Fearnley vs Fabio Fognini prediction

Jacob Fearnley has performed admirably in his two clay court events of the year. He advanced through two qualifying stages of the Barcelona Open and defeated Roberto Carballes Baena in the first-round before a heavy loss to Alex de Minaur. In Madrid, he again made it through qualifying relatively comfortably and then won his first two rounds of the main draw, which included coming from a set down to defeat 19th seed Tomas Machac.

He bravely fell to a defeat to Grigor Dimitrov in the next round, but Fearnley can be encouraged by his displays on clay so far this season. Fabio Fognini, who turns 38 at the end of this month, has not been able to recapture the form of old with his displays so far this season. He has lost early on in all of his clay court events this season, with the latest being in the first-round of a Challenger event in Mauthausen.

Fearnley’s game should be too much for the veteran and we favour the Briton getting through in straight sets and consigning Fognini to yet another early exit.
