Jack Draper vs Carlos Alcaraz prediction
Jack Draper overcame a slow start to defeat Corentin Moutet in three sets and make it through to the quarter-finals. He kept up his fine recent form on clay with a 1-6 6-4 6-3 win. He admitted to feeling ‘bamboozled’ at the start due to Moutet’s unconventional approach but managed to find his range as the match wore on.
He now takes on reigning French Open champion Carlos Alcaraz in the last eight. Alcaraz got through a tight three setter of his own as he defeated Karen Khachanov 6-3 3-6 7-5. The Spaniard only managed 17 winners in the match but made far less unforced errors than the Russian and forced a late break to win.
They’ve played on five occasions, with Alcaraz leading 3-2 though this is their first match on clay. Draper beat Alcaraz last time out in the semi-finals of Indian Wells on his way to winning the biggest title of his career so far.
Neither player is competing at their optimum level right now, but Draper does seem to be running out of steam and Alcaraz has still lost just once in the European clay court swing. We edge towards him winning in three sets.
