Jovic continued to create opportunities as she broke the Colombian’s serve on six occasions to win 6-4 6-2 after an hour and 29 minutes. The 17-year-old produced a first serve percentage of 71% and will fancy her chances of going further in the tournament with several seeds already out.

One of those seeded players includes Veronika Kudermetova as she was comfortably defeated by Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva in the round-of-16. The world number 123 was always in control and wasn’t broken on serve as she came through to win 6-4 6-2. 

Jovic’s star continues to rise on the WTA Tour, and this could be the week where she makes a real breakthrough. She should have too much for Jimenez Kasintseva and will be a favourite to get through to the semi-finals.
