Ireland vs India prediction
Having performed reasonably well but been knocked out in the group stages of 2026 ICC T20 World Cup, the Irish needed to back that up and continue to show improvement – and they have done just that with a dramatic win in the opener of this series against world champions India on Friday.
Ireland hit 182-9 in their 20 overs with Lorcan Tucker hitting a 36-ball half-century, with Gareth Delany also contributing runs, before they bowled India out for 148 in 18.5 overs with only Abhishek Sharma really getting up and running with his own half-century, with Matthew Humphreys and Matthew Holland both taking three wickets apiece.
The story before the game was the potential IT20 debut of 15-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanashi but the man most likely to drop out of the eleven would be Sharma, who may have booked himself a spot for this second match.
India will be annoyed and they have named a full-strength side – and they will want to bounce back and flex their muscles with an India win still the bet.
