Ipswich vs Southampton prediction

Ipswich Town have again enjoyed an impressive summer transfer window and they have an extremely strong squad. The Tractor Boys began the 2025/26 season with a 1-1 draw against Birmingham City in which they put in a poor performance and snatched a point with a controversial late penalty scored by George Hirst.

Kieran McKenna’s side backed that up with a penalty shootout loss to League Two side Bromley in the first round of the EFL Cup. In contrast, Southampton edged past Northampton Town by a goal to nil at Sixfields a few days after coming from a goal down late on to defeat Wrexham by two goals to one in second-half stoppage-time.

Ipswich have a strong squad and should be a lot more settled than Saints, but Southampton have shown the quality they have to throw on late on so both teams scoring seems a good bet in Suffolk.
