Ignacio Buse enjoyed a career high last week as he won his first tour-level title at the Hamburg Open. The Peruvian had to qualify for the event, but he then defeated defending champion Flavio Cobolli in round one and went on to beat Tommy Paul in the final. He is now ranked inside the top 60. The 21-year-old is an incredibly tough first-round opponent for Andrey Rublev.
Rublev’s best result of the clay court campaign was a run to the final of the Barcelona Open. However, he was unable to claim his first title since February 2025 as he lost to Arthur Fils in straight sets. He then suffered an early loss in Madrid but he did win three matches in a row at the Italian Open, losing to world number one Jannik Sinner in the quarter-finals. Rublev is a two-time quarter-finalist at Roland Garros.
Rublev is still the favourite, but Buse will have nothing to fear after such a strong showing in his last event.
