Hungary vs Slovenia prediction

Hungary succumbed to a dramatic 3-2 loss to the Republic of Ireland in November to deny them a spot in the UEFA playoffs for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. They have only beaten Armenia, Azerbaijan and Bosnia-Herzegovina in 16 matches since UEFA EURO 2024.

Slovenia, who were beaten on penalties by Portugal at that tournament and have one of Europe’s most in-form strikers in Benjamin Sesko, endured a tough 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifying campaign, scoring just three goals and drawing four with two defeats in six matches.

Slovenia are defensive but perhaps took that too far in the second-half of last year. Needing to come out a bit more should lead to an open game in the Hungarian capital city.

Hungary vs Slovenia tip: Both teams to score
