However, he was unable to claim the title after a defeat to Matteo Arnaldi in the final.
His first-round opponent in Rome is Yannick Hanfmann. The German’s best result of the season was a final appearance in Santiago during the Golden Swing, where he lost to Luciano Darderi. His recent performances have been less eye catching, as he suffered an early exit at the BMW Open and then lost in the second-round of the Madrid Open to Francisco Cerundolo in straight sets.
Hurkacz has found form again, but both players are likely to dominate on serve. This could be a battle, but the two-time Masters 1000 winner has enough quality in his game to get through.
