Hubert Hurkacz vs Joao Fonseca prediction

Hubert Hurkacz seems to have found form at the right time after injuries had disrupted much of his season up to now. He made his return after a month out in Madrid but lost in the second-round after receiving a bye. He made a fine improvement in Rome as he won three matches before a quarter-final loss to Tommy Paul. He continued his resurgence in Geneva, as he made the final. He was a break up in the final set against Novak Djokovic but went on to lose in the deciding tiebreak.

For all his promise, Joao Fonseca has not enjoyed a productive European clay court campaign up to now. He has just one win from the three events he’s competed in, and that came in the first-round of the Madrid Open. He dropped down to play a Challenger in Estoril but lost at the earliest possible stage to Jesper de Jong and then followed that up with another loss to Fabian Marozsan in the first-round of the Italian Open. Despite his dip, the Brazilian has already shown how good he can be on this surface with his first ATP Tour title in Argentina earlier this season.

This is a very tricky first-round match for Hurkacz despite his improving form. We think this may go the distance but the Pole should have enough for victory.
