Hoffenheim preview: Back to winning ways
It’s two wins from three so far for Hoffenheim after they responded perfectly following a 1-3 loss at the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt. Taking on Union Berlin, Hoffenheim took full advantage of the hosts being reduced to ten men, although by then the game was virtually won anyway.
Two goals in first half stoppage time effectively flattened Union and whilst they tried to rally on two occasions, Hoffenheim responded both times and ultimately won out by four goals to two in the German capital.
Bayern Munich preview: Balancing act
Bayern Munich did a good job balancing European and domestic commitments last season and look well-set to do the same again this time around. Having begun the campaign with a perfect three wins from three in the Bundesliga, scoring 14 goals and conceding just twice, Vincent Kompany’s side were also victorious vs Chelsea in their opening Champions League game of 2025-26.
Harry Kane was once again at the forefront of their success, scoring twice in a 3-1 win. Kane’s relentless thirst for goals makes him arguably the best striker in Europe, whilst the threesome of Olise, Gnabry and Diaz behind him are proving worth their weight in gold.
Hoffenheim team news: Three out for home side
Hoffenheim have three players out through injury as it stands, those being Valentin Gendrey, Adam Hlozek and Shuto Machida. The trio are nursing ankle, foot and knee issues respectively.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Baumann; Coufal, Hranac, Hajdari, Bernardo; Burger, Avdullahu; Asllani, Kramaric, Toure; Lemperle
Unavailable: Gendrey (Injured), Hlozek (Injured), Machida (Injured)

Bayern Munich team news: No returnees
Bayern Munich won’t be able to call upon any returning players here, with Davies, Ito, and Musiala all remaining out after not featuring in midweek. They’ve been joined on the treatment table by Josip Stanisic, who picked up a knee injury against Chelsea.
Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Neuer; Boey, Upamecano, Kim, Laimer; Kimmich, Pavlovic; Olise, Gnabry, Diaz; Kane
Unavailable: Davies (Injured), Ito (Injured), Musiala (Injured), Stanisic (Injured)
Questionable: Guerreiro (Injured)
Hoffenheim vs Bayern Munich prediction
Although Hoffenheim will rightly be happy with their points return so far, they are without a clean sheet and are averaging two goals conceded per game. That does not bode well ahead of Kane and Bayern’s visit, who will be looking to capitalise on such defensive instability. It’s hard to see them being able to keep out the Rekordmeister for very long.
Whilst there is perhaps a risk that Kane could be given a rest and start on the bench in favour of Nicolas Jackson, the more likely scenario is that the England superstar will feature from the start and score once again in a Bayern Munich victory.
