Hanyu Guo vs Xiyu Wang prediction
Hangyu Guo last competed on the ITF circuit in Guiyang earlier in the month, picking up her second title of the season after victory in the final over Lin Zhu in three sets. She also won her first Masters 1000 match this season after getting through to the second-round in Montreal. The Chinese player is ranked 192 in the world.
Xiyu Wang is 40 places higher in the rankings. She has also had success at lower level tournaments, with a victory in Lexington at the beginning of August. She has failed to make much of an impact on the WTA Tour in comparison, though did qualify for the US Open last month with three victories, and reached the second-round of the Australian Open. An injury sustained in late January kept her out of action for three months.
Wang has greater pedigree and will start as the favourite against her Chinese counterpart.
