Hamad Medjedovic is yet to drop a set so far at Roland Garros as he comfortably defeated Juan Manuel Cerundolo to make the third-round of a Grand Slam for the first time. The Serbian won 6-3 6-4 7-5. He had picked up just one victory on the main draw of a clay tournament this season but his game has come together at the right time as he aims for the last 16.
Daniel Altmaier will be his opponent in round three as he continued the momentum from his fabulous win over world number four Taylor Fritz in the first-round with a four set victory against Vit Kopriva. The German was forced to dig deep at times, saving 17 out of 19 break points but held firm to win 6-2 4-6 6-3 7-5.
They have played once before earlier this year in Marseille, with Medjedovic winning a close match 7-5 6-7 6-4. Nevertheless, this will be their first match on clay. These two are evenly-matched, with just five places separating the pair in the world rankings but the more experienced Altmaier may have just enough to get through.
