Girona preview: Mid-table Catalans

Girona had looked as though they were heading for the top-half a couple of months ago but the Catalans have drifted again, with Michel set to depart the club at the end of this season, according to reports.

They come into this one on the back of a 2-1 defeat to Valencia at Mestalla, meaning that they have now managed just one victory in their last five matches in La Liga as they drift back towards the danger zone.

Mallorca preview: Battling Majorcans

They now face a Mallorca side that, with Martin Demichelis now at the helm, have put in some very good performances of late but the Balearic Islanders have dropped back down to 17th ahead of this match day.

That is because the Majorca succumbed to a 2-1 defeat to Deportivo Alaves in the Basque Country last weekend, having had a half-time lead before a second-half brace scored by striker Toni Martinez for Alaves.

Girona team news: Alex Moreno suspended

Aston Villa loanee Alex Moreno is missing through suspension for this weekend, while attacking trio Abel Ruiz, Vladyslav Vanat and Portu are all sidelined through injury.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Paulo Gazzaniga; Arnau Martinez, Reis, Blind, Hugo Rincon; Ivan Martin, Witsel; Tsygankov, Lemar, Ounahi; Echeverri

Unavailable: Juan Carlos (Injured), Ter Stegen (Injured), Alex Moreno (Suspended), Van de Beek (Injured), Abel Ruiz (Injured), Vanat (Injured), Portu (Injured)

Questionable:

Mallorca team news: Fresh doubt

Albania international defender Marash Kumbulla is a fresh injury doubt for Mallorca, while Antonio Raillo remains sidelined alongside Jan Salas and Leeds United loanee Mateo Joseph.

Predicted XI (4-2-3-1): Leo Roman; Pablo Maffeo, David Lopez, Valjent, Johan Mojica; Omar Mascarell, Costa; Jan Virgili, Pablo Torre, Sergi Darder; Muriqi

Unavailable: Antonio Raillo (Injured), Jan Salas (Injured), Mateo Joseph (Injured)

Questionable: Bergstrom (Injured), Kumbulla (Injured), Zito Luvumbo (Injured)

Girona vs Mallorca prediction

Mallorca have shown real progress and fight in recent weeks and, with Vedat Muriqi, are a threat against any side in La Liga. Girona have slid again with safety having previously been assured and this one could now turn into a cup tie with both team desperate for a victory and both teams scoring now appearing a decent bet for this one at Montilivi on Friday night.

Girona vs Mallorca tip: Both teams to score
