Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard recovered from going a set down to beat Zizou Bergs 4-6 6-3 7-6 6-4 to record his first ever win at his home slam. The Frenchman staged an unbelievable comeback in the third-set tiebreak, coming from 5-0 to reel off seven straight points and take a crucial lead in the match. He failed to serve out the match at 5-3 in the fourth but broke in the very next service game to seal victory.
He will play Damir Dzumhur in the next round. The Bosnian also came from a set down to beat Thiago Agustin Tirante 3-6 6-4 6-3 7-5. Dzumhur saved six set points in the fourth which would have forced a decider and makes the second-round here for the first time since 2018.
Mpetshi Perricard has not been in the best of form for much of this season but picked up a Challenger Tour win in Bordeaux a little over a week ago and seemed be spurred on by a passionate home crowd in the first-round. Dzumhur can be a threat on clay but we're favouring the big serving Frenchman on this occasion.
