We have something of a Madrid derby taking place at the Coliseum this weekend as Jose Bordalas’ Getafe prepare to take on a strong and impressive Atletico Madrid side.

Kick-off date/time:

How to watch on TV: UK – Premier Sports / US – ESPN have the exclusive rights to La Liga games in the USA, so any game may be televised on one of their affiliated channels

How to watch online: UK – Premier Player / US – ESPN+

Getafe preview: Steady Getafe

Jose Bordalas is in his second stint in charge of Getafe and, once again, they are punching above their weight with a horrible style of football, albeit that style has them sitting just outside of the top seven and the European spots in La Liga.

They did, though, head into the November international break on the back of a slender 1-0 defeat to Real Mallorca at Son Moix in the Balearic Islands a couple of weeks ago, with Kosovo international striker Vedat Muriqi scoring a 14th minute winner.

Atletico Madrid preview: Impressive Atleti

After an underwhelming start to the campaign, the pressure was perhaps ratcheted up to Diego Simeone more than ever before as Los Rojiblancos boss but they have turned things around as they now sit just six points off top spot.

Atletico Madrid have enjoyed four successive victories in La Liga, having most recently defeated Levante by three goals to one, in a game in which Antoine Griezmann starred with a brace at the Metropolitano.

Getafe team news: Kiko Femenia a doubt

Former Watford full-back Kiko Femenia is now a key doubt for Getafe this weekend, with Davinchi a confirmed absentee alongside defensive midfielder Yvan Neyou.

Predicted XI (X-X-X-X): David Soria; Juan Iglesias, Abqar, Domingos Duarte, Diego Rico; Mario Martin, Luis Milla, Mauro Arambarri, Alex Sancris; Adrian Liso, Borja Mayoral

Unavailable: Davinchi (Injured), Yvan Neyou (Injured)

Questionable: Kiko Femenia (Injured)

Atletico Madrid team news: Frustrating injuries

The international break has seen Atletico be dealt some key injury blows as Slovenia international goalkeeper Jan Oblak is now potentially sidelined alongside Argentina international duo Thiago Almada and Julian Alvarez.

Predicted XI (4-4-2): Musso; Marcos Llorente, Jose Maria Gimenez, Hancko, Ruggeri; Giuliano Simeone, Koke, Pablo Barrios, Alex Baena; Sorloth, Griezmann

Unavailable: Le Normand (Injured)

Questionable: Oblak (Injured), Thiago Almada (Injured), Julian Alvarez (Injured)

Getafe vs Atletico Madrid prediction

This Madrid derby is between the man with an aggressive and defensive style of football named after him, ‘Cholismo’ is the Diego Simeone brand, and a Getafe side that, under Jose Bordalas, have used that style to achieve feats they wouldn’t have usually been able to. However, Atleti have become a little more effective and efficient in the final third of late and they are catching Getafe at the exact right time with a poor run of form of late.
