Genoa have been very strong since the late autumn as they now welcome fellow mid-table outfit Udinese to the Luigi Ferraris in Liguria on Friday evening.

Genoa preview: Improved Genoa

Ever since the appointment of Daniele De Rossi, replacing Patrick Vieira with Genoa winless after nine matches, the Genovese have propelled themselves from danger, winning eight of their 20 games, drawing six and losing just six, too.

After a recent 2-1 defeat of Roma a couple of weeks ago, Genoa then eased to a comfortable 2-0 defeat of relegation-bound Hellas Verona at the Marcantonio Bentegodi last week, courtesy of goals from Vitinha and Leo Ostigard.

Udinese preview: Mid-table Friulians

Under the management of former Legia Warsaw boss Kosta Runjaic, Udinese once again sit firmly in the middle-of-the-table, as was ever thus with the Friulians, and very much entering into ‘on the beach’ mode.

The visitors stumbled to a 1-0 defeat at home to Juventus in their most recent outing at the Bluenergy Stadium last weekend, meaning that they have now won just one of their last six matches in Serie A.

Genoa team news: Fully fit

Genoa have a fully fit and available squad for this weekend and so the hosts will be expected to name an unchanged eleven against Udinese if they so choose.

Predicted XI (3-4-1-2): Biljow; Marcandalli, Ostigard, Johan Vasquez; Sabelli, Malinovskiy, Frendrup, Ellertsson; Junior Messias; Ekuban, Colombo

Unavailable:

Questionable:

Udinese team news: Buksa out

Poland international striker Adam Buksa is missing with a calf injury for this weekend alongside the versatile Alessandro Zanoli and former AFC Bournemouth full-back Jordan Zemura.

Predicted XI (4-1-2-1-2): Okoye; Ehizibue, Kristensen, Kabasele, Kamara; Oier Zarraga; Karlstrom, Ekkelenkamp; Atta; Zaniolo, Davis

Unavailable: Zemura (Injured), Zanoli (Injured), Buksa (Injured)

Questionable: Bertola (Injured)

Genoa vs Udinese prediction

Udinese have been flirting with the possibility of a push towards the top seven or eight and the possible UEFA competition qualification spots – but they have been generally underwhelming when it comes to the crux. Given that, home advantage and the fine form of Daniele De Rossi’s Genoa, siding with the Genovese may well be a good value bet for this one.

Genoa vs Udinese tip: Double chance – Genoa to win or draw
