Once of Oldham Athletic after time in France at Le Havre, Stade de Reims and Guingamp, Johny Placide is closing in on becoming Haiti’s all-time appearance maker and he will lead the Haitians into the summer as their captain. The 38-year-old goalkeeper has been plying his trade back in France since 2012, after a stint with Tsarsko Seko in Bulgaria, as the first-choice goalkeeper at Bastia in Ligue 2, albeit his performances couldn’t prevent their relegation last year despite the Corsicans, largely down to Placide, conceding just 39 goals in 35 games – as many as fifth placed Rodez in the play-offs.
