Francisco Cerundolo vs Sebastian Ofner prediction

Francisco Cernudolo overcame last year’s finalist Nicolas Jarry in straight sets to reach the third-round. The Argentinian won 7-6 6-3 but had the chances to make it a far mare comfortable encounter, only taking two out of a possible 16 break point opportunities. Nevertheless, Cerundolo is coming off the back of successive semi-final appearances and should be fancied for a deep run in Rome.

He now takes on Sebastian Ofner in the third-round. Ofner claimed arguably his best win since returning from injury earlier this year as he beat 15th seed Frances Tiafoe 6-2 6-7 6-3. 

These two have never played each other on clay before but Cerundolo does lead the head-to-head 2-0. He defeated the Austrian in the second-round of the Miami Open and the first-round of the US Open in 2024.

Ofner shouldn’t be underestimated after his win over Tiafoe, but the increasingly consistent Cerundolo has performed really strongly over the past month and should be fancied to win in straight sets.
