Francisco Cerundolo vs Nicolas Jarry prediction
Francisco Cerundolo shone in Madrid last time out, defeating number one seed and world number two Alexander Zverev on his way to making the semi-finals. Cerundolo would lose a close two set match against Casper Ruud, with the Norwegian going on to win the tournament. He also reached the last four of the BMW Open just a week earlier so the Argentine is in very strong form and can be confident of another deep run in Rome.
Nicolas Jarry made it through his first-round match against Hugo Gaston, defeating the Frenchman 6-4 7-6. Despite the close scoreline, Jarry was always in control, as he held serve on each occasion and had the chances to make the result far more comfortable. However, the Chilean could only take one out of a possible eight break point opportunities.
Jarry will be hopeful of advancing further, considering he has so many points to defend after reaching the final here last year. In saying that, Cerundolo has played some really high quality tennis on the red clay over the past month and should be fancied to get through comfortably.
