Jack Draper kicked off his Indian Wells title defence with a promising win over Roberto Bautista Agut.

The British number one clocked up a 6-3 3-6 6-2 victory over the veteran Spaniard, firing 24 winners off the forehand to allay any lingering concern over the arm injury that kept him out for seven months.

The 14th seed will now tackle Francisco Cerundolo for a third time after the Argentine edged Benjamin Bonzi 6-4 5-7 7-6. 

The 19th seed holds a 2-0 head-to-head lead over Draper, but both matches were hard-fought affairs and this is likely to follow suit.

Jack will battle hard as ever but Cerundolo may have the extra sharpness in the big moments.
