Francisco Cerundolo has not reached the heights of his 2025 clay court campaign, though he has still picked up wins consistently. The Argentine advanced to the quarter-finals of the BMW Open and the round-of-16 in Madrid, but he could only manage a third-round appearance in Rome as he was defeated by Lorenzo Musetti in straight sets.
His first-round opponent in Hamburg is Alex de Minaur. His poor form continued in Rome as he lost his opening match to Matteo Arnaldi. That was his fourth defeat in five matches. De Minaur began the season strongly, as he advanced to the quarter-finals of the Australian Open and won a title in Rotterdam, but his results have declined alarmingly since that point.
