Francesco Passaro vs Karen Khachanov prediction

Francesco Passaro produced a fine performance to seal a stunning upset in the second-round as he beat Grigor Dimitrov 7-5 6-3. The Italian also benefited from an error-strewn display by the 14th seed, who committed way too many unforced errors and had a first serve percentage of just 53%. Passaro now has a 4-0 winning record against top 30 players in his career.

Karen Khachanov will be his next opponent after the Russian defeated Roman Andres Burruchaga 6-4 5-7 6-1. It wasn’t the best of performances from Khachanov against the qualifier but he raced clear in the deciding set to seal victory.

Khachanov has not performed to the best of his abilities lately, with a third-round loss last time out in Madrid though he did also reach the semi-finals of the BMW Open last month. Passaro has made a strong return from the injury which kept him out for a month prior to this event and could cause problems for the Russian with a passionate home crowd behind him. We favour Khachanov in three sets.
