Francesco Maestrelli vs Botic van de Zandschulp prediction

Francesco Maestrelli will be hoping to end a three-match losing run as he competes in Bucharest. The Italian lost in the first-round of Indian Wells to Rinky Hijikata and was then heavily beaten by Mattia Bellucci in round one of the Cap Cana Challenger. He attempted to qualify for the Miami Open but lost in the opening stage to Murphy Cassone. Maestrelli won three Challenger titles last season, two of those being on clay.

Botic van de Zandschulp is his first-round opponent. The Dutchman has four defeats from his last five matches. His best result occurred in Rotterdam as he got through to the quarter-finals and tested Alex de Minaur all the way. However, he then failed to qualify in Dubai and lost in the first-round of Indian Wells to Juan Manuel Cerundolo. He defeated Denis Shapovalov in Miami but then lost to Taylor Fritz.

Neither player is in the best of form, but Van de Zandschulp has proven himself far more on the ATP Tour and he will be favoured to win this one in Bucharest.
