A disappointing display saw Jones broken five times on serve as she lost 6-3 6-1 after just an hour and 13 minutes. That extended her loss streak to four matches, and Jones has struggled since starting her season with a quarter-final finish in Auckland.

She goes up against Venus Williams, who received a wildcard for this tournament. The five-time Grand Slam champion lost her fifth straight match of the season at Indian Wells, after a battling three set loss to Diane Parry. She is still searching for her first win of 2026.
