Francesca Jones vs Jessica Pegula prediction

Francesca Jones ended a four-match losing streak as she beat seven-time Grand Slam singles champion Venus Williams in straight sets. The pair exchanged breaks at the start of both sets, but Jones held her nerve to win 7-5 7-5 in the first-round.

She faces Jessica Pegula next. The American comes into this event on the back of a quarter-final finish at Indian Wells, as she was defeated by Elena Rybakina for the second time this season, following a semi-final defeat at the Australian Open. After her success in Dubai last month, Pegula currently has eight wins from her last nine matches. She has been one of the most consistent players on tour for the past six months, and she will be hopeful of another deep run at a 1000 event.

Pegula has found a way of being aggressive on faster surfaces this season, and Jones is unlikely to offer too much resistance here.
