THE LOWDOWN

REAL SOCIEDAD

Under the management of Imanol Aguacil, Real Sociedad play one of the most intense styles of football of any team across Europe. That has often been to their detriment in the second-half of the campaign, though, where they are guilty of drifting away after making fine and very aggressive starts.

La Real do come into this one on the back of a goalless draw in the Balearic Islands away to Real Mallorca in the first-leg of their Copa del Rey semi-final tie in midweek. That was their third successive 0-0 draw after previous stalemates with Rayo Vallecano and Girona. They have suffered just 19 defeats across all competitions. They have had eight goalless draws so far this season.

OSASUNA

It has been an underwhelming season so far for Osasuna after finishing seventh and qualifying for the UEFA Europa Conference League last year, as well as reaching the final of the Copa del Rey before losing to Real Madrid in Seville. Jago Arrasate has remained in charge of the Pamplona-based outfit as they steadily progress towards a mid-table finish this season.

The visitors for this one, though, do come into this on the back of being thrashed 3-0 by a struggling Celta Vigo side at El Sadar in their most recent outing, last weekend. That means they have managed just one win in their last six matches across all competitions and they have struggled for goals throughout the campaign with just 26 scored in 23 games.

THE PREDICTION

Dependant on who you ask, this one could be classed as a regional derby but that is a debate very much for another day. For now, Real Sociedad are a side preparing for a huge clash with Paris Saint-Germain in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday evening and also one that have struggled for goals of late. They face an Osasuna side that would be more than happy to accept a point as a good one up in the Basque Country so, whilst La Real are slight favourites at home, it is not expected to be a thriller for the neutral.
