THE LOWDOWN

REAL MADRID

In yet another game in which Carlo Ancelotti decided to heavily rotate his Real Madrid side that have already been crowned champions, Los Blancos’ fringe players put in another excellent performance to hammer Granada by four goals to nil down in Andalusia. Fran Garcia and Arda Guler made it 2-0 before half-time with Brahim Diaz notching a second-half brace.

Madrid have played 51 matches across all competitions so far this season, winning La Liga and Supercopa de Espana already with the UEFA Champions League final against Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium to come, with just two defeats in those 51 games and both of those losses came at the Metropolitano against their capital city rivals Atletico Madrid.

ALAVES

Deportivo Alaves began this season as one of the major favourites for relegation after gaining promotion back to the top-flight last season. The Basque club have been steady throughout the campaign but reportedly very nearly sacked manager Luis Garcia Plaza mid-way through the season when they were drifting quite badly.

However, ever since then, they have once again steadied themselves and begin the final couple of weeks of this season sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table. They come into this one on the back of an entertaining 2-2 draw against high-flying Girona last weekend, which followed on from three successive victories.

THE TEAM NEWS

REAL MADRID

There are two injury concerns for Real Madrid this week as defender David Alaba remains unavailable alongside France midfielder Aurelien Tchouameni.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Courtois; Lucas Vazquez, Militao, Rudiger, Fran Garcia; Modric, Camavinga, Dani Ceballos; Guler, Joselu, Brahim Diaz

UNAVAILABLE: Alaba (Injured), Tchouameni (Injured)

ALAVES

Luis Garcia Plaza and Deportivo Alaves have a fully fit and available squad for this weekend’s trip to the Bernabeu so they will be able to name an unchanged eleven for this one.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Owono; Tenaglia, Abqar, Marin, Lopez; Benavidez, Guevara; Vicente, Guridi, Simeone; Kike

THE PREDICTION

This is expected to be quite a one-sided affair between a team aiming to finish on as many as 99 points this season up against an Alaves side that will be more than happy with their current league position. There is a chance that the visitors sneak into the top-half before the end of the campaign but if they are to do that they will likely need to take points in their final two matches with Madrid the overwhelming favourites for a comfortable victory at the Bernabeu this week.

TIP: REAL MADRID TO WIN
