THE LOWDOWN
REAL BETIS
Under the management of Manuel Pellegrini, Real Betis begin the 20th match day of the 2023/24 La Liga campaign sitting tucked inside the top seven and the European spots. The Andalusians have had to deal with financial issues and a limited summer transfer window being followed by an injury crisis throughout the first-half of this campaign.
The home team come into this one on the back of a slender 1-0 defeat to Deportivo Alaves in the Round of 32 of the Copa del Rey in their most recent outing, last weekend. That means Real Betis have managed just one win in their last nine matches across all competitions, which has included being knocked out of the cup as well as the UEFA Europa League.
GRANADA
Following promotion to La Liga last season, Granada have endured an extremely difficult campaign. The visitors sit firmly in the bottom three and the relegation places with just two victories in their 19 matches so far this season, under the management of Alexander Medina – who replaced Paco Lopez earlier this year.
They come into this one on the back of a desperately much-needed 2-0 defeat of Cadiz in an Andalusian derby at the start of this year to give them some hope of avoiding the drop. They begin the weekend sitting five points behind Celta Vigo and Sevilla, who occupy 17th and 16th places respectively.

THE PREDICTION
This is an Andalusian derby between two sides at either end of the table but the two sides could very much do with the points for different reasons. Real Betis are becoming separated from the top six so it does appear that top seven would be best case scenario with the likes of Getafe, Valencia and Las Palmas all chasing them. Granada earned just their second win of the season a couple of weeks ago and they will set up very defensively at the Benito Villamarin against a team that have scored just 21 goals in 19 games so a low-scoring encounter is to be expected for this one.
