THE LOWDOWN
ALMERIA
Almeria gained promotion to the top-flight in 2022 and then narrowly avoided relegation on the final day of last season but taking it anywhere near the 38th game this time around seems almost impossible already. The Andalusians are rock-bottom in La Liga with no victories in their 16 matches so far this season.
Gaizka Garitano’s side have collected just four points this season and have also been knocked out of the Copa del Rey by fourth-tier opposition in the form of Barbastro. They have maintained a half-decent attacking record but been significantly undermined by conceding 39 goals in those 16 La Liga games.
MALLORCA
Javier Aguirre has remained in charge of Real Mallorca but the Mexican is under immense pressure in the Balearic Islands. They are an ambitious club that invested relatively heavily in the summer and remain firmly in a battle against the drop but the islanders come into this one on the back of a much-needed victory.
Mallorca edged past a struggling Sevilla side in their most recent outing, last weekend, by a goal to nil. That means they are now unbeaten in their last four matches across all competitions as they attempt to move away from the bottom three. They have remained reactive and fairly dull to watch with just 14 goals scored in 16 matches.

PREDICTED XI (3-5-1-1): Rajkovic; Gonzalez, Raillo, Nastasic; Maffeo, Rodriguez, Msacarell, S.Costa, J.Costa; Darder; Larin
UNAVAILABLE: Valjent (Injured), Muriqi (Injured)

THE PREDICTION
Almeria remain rock-bottom without a league win all season but their performances have gradually improved since the arrival of Gaizka Garitano. They have been able to frustrate some of the better sides in the division, such as Atletico Madrid and Real Betis. Real Mallorca will head to Andalusia without their key forward, Vedat Muriqi, who leads an already limited line anyway. It is a big game down at the bottom but remains very unlikely to have much of interest for the neutral.
