THE TEAM NEWS
RAD BEOGRAD
- SuperLiga strugglers Rad Beograd resume their campaign and will hope for better fortunes after the enforced break given that they have only picked up four victories from their 26 games so far.
- Marko Micovic’s side could not have asked for a tougher assignment on their return though, with runaway SuperLiga leaders Crvena zvezda the visitors here and, given that Rad Beograd have not achieved a positive result in this fixture since a cup outing in 2014, expectations will be relatively modest.
- Rad’s biggest hope is undoubtedly striker Andrija Kaluderovic, who made an immediate impact upon returning to the club in February this year by netting five times in his five appearances prior to the suspension of the league.
CRVENA ZVEZDA
- Crvena zvezda need just a point from their remaining four games to seal the SuperLiga title for a third time in a row and will be fully expecting to wrap it up in this encounter.
- The decision to scrap the usual postseason stage has made Crvena zvezda’s coronation even more of a formality but such are the standards set by Serbia’s leading team over the past couple of years, that fans will be expecting four wins from the remaining four games.
- Striker Ben Nabouhane is currently locked in a four-way tie in the league’s top scorer charts and will view this contest as an excellent opportunity to add to the 13 goals he has registered in the campaign so far.
THE PREDICTION
Although Crvena zvezda would ideally like to seal their third consecutive SuperLiga title on home turf, that is unlikely to halt the inevitable here. The reigning champions are facing the leakiest defence in the league and, given the firepower they possess with the likes of Ben Nabouhane in their ranks, it is likely that they will rack up a few goals in what should be a comfortable victory for the champions-elect. Rad's Andrija Kaluderovic will be a threat, especially if he can maintain the form he displayed prior to the break, but is unlikely to be enough to put a serious dent in Crvena zvezda's aspirations.
