THE LOWDOWN
ESTORIL
Bruno Pinheiro replicated a very similar job as to what Marco Silva performed with Estoril about a decade ago but, unlike Silva, he could not qualify for Europe immediately following promotion and decided to leave last season. With former Benfica caretaker manager Nelson Verissimo replacing him, Estoril endured a difficult campaign, narrowly avoiding finishing in the bottom three.
Over the summer, Verissimo was replaced by Alvaro Pacheco, who had performed very well with Chaves. Pacheco’s reign in charge of The Canaries has been an inconsistent one so far. It began with an opening day 4-3 defeat away to Arouca, in which they had led three times in the match. They then defeated Rio Ave by two goals to one but suffered a shock 2-1 loss at newly-promoted Estrela da Amadora last weekend.
BOAVISTA
Boavista are one of the two sides outside of ‘Os Tres Grandes’ (The Big Three) to have won the Portuguese title, becoming Primeira Liga champions at the turn of the century. They will be expecting to push into the top-half this season and potentially even into the top six, aiming for a return to European football with UEFA Europa Conference League qualification.
They started this season with a shock 3-2 defeat of Benfica on the opening day of the campaign. They had been 2-1 down in that match going into second-half stoppage-time. They followed that up with a 4-1 demolition of Portimonense in their first away game of the season before sharing a 1-1 draw with Casa Pia in their most recent outing, last weekend.
THE TEAM NEWS
ESTORIL
Alvaro Pacheco will be seeking to find some rhythm with his Estoril side so they are likely to name an unchanged eleven for this weekend’s encounter, with a fully fit and available squad.
PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Figueira; Feltes, Vital, Mangala, Araujo; Pavlic, Holsgrove, Joao Marques; Guitane, Cassiano, Tavares

BOAVISTA
Boavista have one injury but will expect to name an unchanged side for this weekend’s match as they seek to get back to winning ways away to Estoril.
PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Goncalves; Malheiro, Awaziem, Ferreira, Onyemaechi; Makouta, Perez, Reisinho; Salvador Agra, Bozenik, Morais
UNAVAILABLE: Cesar (Injured)

THE PREDICTION
These are two upwardly mobile mid-table teams in the Portuguese Primeira Liga and they will both anticipate finishing in the top-half and even pushing towards the top six and the UEFA Europa Conference League qualification spots. The two sides have, like a lot of this season’s top-flight, played a lot more ambitiously and attacking than had been anticipated and both teams will seek to go into the first international break of the season on a high so both teams scoring seems relatively likely.
TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
