THE TEAM NEWS
MUNICIPAL JALAPA
- Municipal Jalapa failed to win for the fourth consecutive game but they will be deeply concerned by their latest performance after they conceded six on the road at Clausura leaders Managua.
- Jalapa had failed to score in their previous three matches and despite ending that drought, it will come as little consolation with that effort from Heyder Lopez coming late in the game when they were already 6-0 down.
- Despite the heavy loss, Jalapa’s place in the final series play-offs was confirmed during the penultimate round of matches but they will hope to go into that contest on the back of a better effort in their final game before the knockout phase of the competition.
REAL ESTELI
- Real Esteli were able to make it three games unbeaten as they played out a goalless draw with Diriangen with that result keeping Esteli’s fate in their own hands when it comes to a top two finish.
- Esteli would probably have settled for a draw before the game despite the win obviously being more desirable but it was imperative that they prevented Diriangen from picking up the win that would have seen them leapfrog Esteli.
- A win for Esteli here will almost certainly ensure that they avoid having to compete in the play-offs and instead advance straight to the semi-finals but they are inconsistent away from home and they will need to build on their previous trip on the road when they defeated Chinandega, although they will have to make-do without the suspended Yhon Mosquera here after he was given his marching orders late in the game against Diriangen.
THE PREDICTION
Municipal Jalapa were humiliated by Managua in their midweek clash as they made it four matches without a win. Jalapa will be desperate to bounce back immediately as they host Real Esteli but it will be another tough contest for them. The visitors know a win should be enough to secure second spot and they will be highly motivated to do so after drawing with nearest rivals Diriangen in their last game to keep their fate in their own hands. Jalapa will be licking their wounds after their horror show against Managua and that should allow Esteli to pick up the win they require.
