THE TEAM NEWS
TIJUANA
- Tijuana’s poor run of form continued when they endured a 1-1 away draw at Monarcas, with that their second straight 1-1 draw. They are winless in their last five games and sit in 14th place of the standings with six points and a -2 goal differential, just behind Guadalajara due to the fact they have scored fewer goals.
- Club Tijuana should be at full strength here so if there are any changes to the side that played last week they would be through choice or tactical reasons.
Expected starting XI: Miguel Gibran Lajud; Vladimir Lorona, Miguel Barbieri, Leandro Gonzalez Pirez, Aldo Cruz; Kevin Balanta, Christian Rivera, Jose Ignacio Rivero; Miller Bolanos, Camilo Sanvezzo, Mauro Lainez
GUADALAJARA
- Chivas’ poor run in the Clausura campaign continued with another disappointing loss, this time a 2-1 home defeat to Cruz Azul that pushed their losing streak to two games. Much like Tijuana, Chivas are also winless in their last five games, although they sit in 13th place of the standings with six points and a -2 goal differential.
- Guadalajara will be without Juan Jose Macias as the talented forward is still rehabbing from a previous injury. Jesus Sanchez is out due to the same exact reasons but both should be ready to return next week.
Expected starting XI: Jose Antonio Rodriguez; Jesus Angulo, Hiram Mier, Gilberto Sepulveda, Cristian Calderon; Fernando Beltran, Jesus Molina; Isaac Brizuela, Carlos Uriel Antuna, Javier Lopez; Ernesto Alexis Vega
THE PREDICTION
These sides enter in identical runs of form: both won the league opener, are winless since then, and have posted D2, L3 records during the last five matches. Despite their shortcomings, Tijuana should be listed as favourites here – albeit by a small margin. They are at home, are healthier than their opponents, and they have also posted a better defensive record. Chivas own a stronger attack, but their main scoring threat is not expected to be available.
