THE TEAM NEWS
GANGWON
- Gangwon were unable to make it successive victories to start the new K League 1 campaign as they suffered a disappointing 2-0 loss against Sangju Sangmu last week.
- They fell behind in a disappointing first half and despite piling on the pressure from the start of the second period, they failed to make their dominance count.
- Gangwon then conceded a second in the final 15 minutes to cap an unsatisfactory outing and they are likely to make changes for this contest with Seo Min-woo doubtful.
SEONGNAM
- Seongnam made it four points from two matches as they played out a goalless draw with Incheon United last week but they will have been frustrated at that outcome.
- Seongnam were the dominant side throughout but failed to take their chances with Incheon’s rearguard action preventing the hosts from finding the back of the net.
- Although they claimed just the solitary point from that contest, Seongnam will have been content with their display and are unlikely to make many changes although Hong Si-hoo is pushing for a start.
THE PREDICTION
Gangwon and Seongnam were both left frustrated last weekend but for
different reasons. They now come head-to-head in an attempt to put those
annoyances behind them but it may prove a difficult task for the
visitors. Gangwon have lost just two of their last 12 home matches in K
League 1 with that record likely to be improved here on the back of a
victory.
