THE LOWDOWN

ROMA

In his third season in charge, which is typically the season where things begin to go wrong for Jose Mourinho at a club, things went wrong for Jose Mourinho at Roma. The Giallorossi were languishing in the middle-of-the-table and so the decision was taken to replace him with club legend Daniele De Rossi in the dugout at Stadio Olimpico.

The Romans come into this one on the back of thumping their capital city rivals Frosinone by three goals to nil last weekend as the feel good factor of De Rossi’s Roma continued. They have won four of the five matches in Serie A that he has been in charge for with those four matches consisting of 19 goals, too, showing a higher entertainment value than what went before.

TORINO

Torino faced Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico on Thursday in a game between two sides that sit in the top-half of the table, despite both being fairly underwhelming and low-scoring in terms of their performances. Under the management of former Hellas Verona boss Ivan Juric, they have been extremely steady so far this season, despite the intent to be to play an easy on the eye style of football.

In their opening 24 matches so far this season in Serie A, Torino’s games consisted of just 43 goals with 23 scored and 20 conceded. Only two sides, Salernitana and Empoli, had netted fewer before that game but only the top two teams in the league, Juventus and Internazionale, have enjoyed better defensive records.

THE PREDICTION

This one is a really difficult match to call as they are both in generally good form but playing almost entirely different and opposing styles of football. Roma will take the game to anyone under Daniele De Rossi but Ivan Juric’s Torino side know how to defend. Given that the visitors will have a plan of exactly how to frustrate their opponents, as well as the fact that Roma have had UEFA Europa League football against Feyenoord in midweek, a double chance bet in favour of the visitors could be the way to go for this one.

TIP: DOUBLE CHANCE – TORINO TO WIN OR DRAW
