On Tuesday, Roma decided to immediately part company with Jose Mourinho and the former Chelsea, Internazionale and Real Madrid was replaced in the dugout by Roma legend, Daniele De Rossi. De Rossi’s appointment is on an initial short-term basis as Roma seemingly opt to coast through until the end of this season.
The Giallorossi begin this weekend sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table and four points adrift of the top seven and the European spots after a run of just six victories in their last 16 matches across all competitions. They were comfortably defeated by three goals to one by AC Milan at San Siro in their most recent outing, last weekend.
HELLAS VERONA
Hellas Verona managed to escape relegation last season by winning the end of season relegation playoff against Spezia. They then managed to pinch coach Marco Baroni from Lecce and began this season with back-to-back victories – they won the league title the only ever time they started with successive wins.
This time around, though, it is another relegation battle as those two wins were then followed by a 14-match winless run of form that meant they sat in the bottom three and the relegation places. However, their 2-1 defeat of fellow strugglers Empoli last weekend means they have suffered just three defeats in eight games with two of those three losses against teams in the top four.

This one had potential to be another upset and it could well still be the case but Roma may benefit from the effect of not having Jose Mourinho in charge of their side. Daniele De Rossi’s managerial career so far is not necessarily one to be overly enthused about but there is likely to be some sort of pressure relieved as they take on a Hellas Verona side that, whilst improving, remain one of the weakest sides in the division so a home win would appear the likeliest outcome for this one.
