THE LOWDOWN
ROMA
After losing the UEFA Europa League final on penalties and missing out on UEFA Champions League qualification in the league as well, it appeared inevitable that Jose Mourinho would depart the capital city club over the summer but he has decided to stay and complain about a lack of finances that were well known. However, they have decided to act in a desperate manner signed Romelu Lukaku on loan from Chelsea in midweek to fix their goal scoring options.
Jose Mourinho’s third season at clubs tends to be where things all go a bit weird and wrong – this season, especially with the way it has started, has all the makings of a Jose Mourinho special. They began with a very deflating and disappointing 2-2 draw at home to Salernitana on the opening day of the campaign before then being beaten 2-1 by a Hellas Verona side that required relegation playoff last year.
AC MILAN
After finishing third in Serie A last season and reaching the UEFA Champions League semi-finals, AC Milan will be hoping to reclaim their Italian title, which they relinquished last year. The Rossoneri sold Sandro Tonali earlier this summer but have replaced him very well with several very impressive additions, who have started the campaign very well.
Milan began the 2023/24 Serie A campaign with an impressive and comfortable 2-0 defeat of Bologna with one of those new signings, Christian Pulisic, getting on the scoresheet. They then followed that up by hammering Torino by four goals to one last weekend with Pulisic, once again, scoring as well as a brace from Olivier Giroud and a first goal of the season for Theo Hernandez.

THE PREDICTION
Although this is a big match Friday night under the lights Jose Mourinho-led team at home against a rival, this doesn’t necessarily feel as though it could be something that ignites their slow start to the season but more something that could really be the beginning of its true unravelling. AC Milan look very strong and are widely viewed as one of the red-hot favourites to reclaim their Italian title. With pacey options off the bench, too, Milan could really strike a few times at Stadio Olimpico and up the pressure on Mourinho and Roma.
TIP: AC MILAN TO WIN
