THE LOWDOWN
LECCE
In 2022, Lecce gained promotion back to Italy’s top-flight and then, with some entertaining and impressive performances, they easily survived in Serie A last season. However, those entertaining and impressive performance meant coach, Marco Baroni, was the subject of interest and he since left for Hellas Verona.
Despite that, Roberto D’Aversa has started the campaign very well with their first defeat of the season coming in midweek, losing 1-0 in Turin away to Juventus. That slender loss had followed a start to the campaign in which Lecce had collected 11 points from their opening five matches and launched themselves into the upper echelons of the Serie A table.
NAPOLI
It has been a controversial week for the reigning champions with Victor Osimhen’s agent threatening legal action against the club after some social media posts by the club seemingly mocking, even with potential racial overtones, their star man. The Neapolitans have had a problematic campaign in the defence of the Scudetto.
They did, though, amidst that drama, manage a comprehensive 4-1 defeat of a very poor and struggling Udinese side in midweek. They have won just half of their opening six Serie A matches so far this season and have struggled following the loss of manager Luciano Spalletti and defender Kim Min-jae.
THE TEAM NEWS

NAPOLI
Napoli will remain without defensive duo Juan Jesus and Amir Rrahmani for this weekend’s clash, and they also have injury concerns over goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini.
PREDICTED XI (4-3-3): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Ostigard, Natan, Rui; Anguissa, Lobotka, Zielinski; Politano, Osimhen, Kvaratskhelia
UNAVAILABLE: Juan Jesus (Injured), Rrahmani (Injured)
QUESTIONABLE: Gollini (Injured)
THE PREDICTION
These two sides would not have expected to be separated by just goal difference after six matches of the campaign but one of the two have overperformed, with the other worryingly underperforming. Lecce, despite scoring just eight goals in six matches, play a proactive style of football and will seek to get after the evidently vulnerable visitors. Napoli dispatched of Udinese in midweek but Udinese have been really poor for around 12 months now. Napoli should win but it may not be convincing.
TIP: NAPOLI TO WIN & BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
