In his second stint in charge, Massimiliano Allegri has got his Juventus side really living up to their stereotypical way of playing and the generally accepted club motto of ‘winning isn’t everything, it is the only thing’. The Old Lady are grinding out victories as they try and stay in touching distance of league leaders Internazionale.
The Bianconeri come into this one on the back of a thrashing Frosinone by goals to nil in the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia in their most recent outing, during the last week. That was their fifth successive victory across all competitions and they are now unbeaten in their last 16 matches – since losing to their upcoming opponents, Sassuolo.
SASSUOLO
Sassuolo have managed just five victories in their 19 matches so far this season with two of thise wins coming against the top two teams, back-to-back, in mid-to-late September. Alessio Dionisi’s time in charge has been a bit underwhelming as they try and move away from the bottom three and the relegation places.
Despite being generally underwhelming, they come into this on the back of yet another marquee result with their fifth win of the Serie A season coming against fourth placed Fiorentina. Sassuolo’s style of football is clearly a lot more well suited to playing against the better teams in the league as they seek to exploit space that is often afforded to them.

As mentioned, Sassuolo prefer playing against the teams that are in the upper echelons of Italy’s top-flight but not necessarily because they take the game to the opposition. Contrary to expectation, Sassuolo actually, bar their 4-2 defeat of Juve in September, have aimed to contain and then take advantage of their opposition when there is space to be exploited. That said, though, Juventus will surely be smart enough to avoid playing into Sassuolo’s hands and another home win grinded out by a slender margin appears to be most likely for this one.
