THE LOWDOWN

HELLAS VERONA

Last season, Hellas Verona only just narrowly escaped relegation from Italy’s top-flight by defeating Spezia in the end of season relegation playoff. The subsequent appointment of former Lecce boss Marco Baroni was supposed to bring about an improvement in their fortunes with a mid-table finish but they are heading into the final few months of the campaign involved in a relegation battle.

Verona started the season with back-to-back victories and the only other time they managed that feat they went and won the Italian title. This time, though, they followed it up with a 14-match winless run of form and they are just above the bottom three. The visitors had an improved run of form in terms of performances recently but their 2-1 loss to Roma last weekend means they have suffered three defeats in their last four matches.

FROSINONE

Following promotion from Serie B last season, Frosinone decided to replace Fabio Grosso with former Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco. The Romans are intent on playing a front foot and more progressive style of football but they have remained inconsistent, albeit sitting firmly in the middle-of-the-table and fairly confident of avoiding being dragged into a relegation battle.

Their entertaining style has seen a combined total of 68 goals come in their 21 matches so far this season at an average of over three per game. They come into this one on the back of a much-needed 3-1 defeat of Cagliari last weekend with goals coming from Luca Mazzitelli, Matias Soule and Kaio Jorge.

THE TEAM NEWS

HELLAS VERONA

Hellas Verona have just one injury concern for this weekend’s visit of Frosinone with Alessandro Berardi unavailable for this one against the Romans.

PREDICTED XI (4-2-3-1): Montipo; Tchatchoua, Magnani, Dawidowicz, Cabal; Folorunsho, Serdar; Mboula, Suslov, Saponara; Duric

UNAVAILABLE: Berardi (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE:

FROSINONE

Jaime Baez is a doubt for this weekend, whilst Ilario Monterisi, Anthony Oyono, Riccardo Marchizza and Sergio Kalaj are out injured as they face Verona.

PREDICTED XI (4-3-2-1): Turati; Zortea, Romagnoli, Okoli, Gelli; Mazzitelli, Barrenechea, Brescianini; Soule, Reinier; Cheddira

UNAVAILABLE: Monterisi (Injured), Oyono (Injured), Marchizza (Injured), Kalaj (Injured)

QUESTIONABLE: Baez (Injured)

THE PREDICTION

Hellas Verona are in danger of allowing improved performances to be undermined by a fragility that has seen them concede too many soft goals as they did in their 2-1 loss against Roma last week. They face a Frosinone side that ended a winless streak with a comfortable win last week and they’ll head to Verona with a bit of confidence against a home team that will also set up to attack so both teams scoring would therefore appear a decent bet.

TIP: BOTH TEAMS TO SCORE
