You won’t need to remind RB Leipzig fans about how they ripped apart Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena in last month’s DFL-Supercup. The DFB-Pokal winners were utterly ruthless on the counter-attack, soaking up pressure before showing a clinical edge at the business end of the pitch. That 0-3 triumph set the tone for what has been a good start to the season so far for Marco Rose’s side.
After losing away at Leverkusen in their opening league fixture, Leipzig have since won six straight games in all competitions, scoring at least three times in all bar one of those matches. They boast a 100% home record, which is set to face its biggest test as the defending champions come to town.
BAYERN MUNICH
Bayern Munich took out their frustration of not beating Bayer Leverkusen following that controversial late penalty call, with a 7-0 thumping of Augsburg, this coming after their midweek victory over Man Utd in the Champions League. Striker Harry Kane collected his first Bundesliga match ball of the season vs Augsburg and has now racked up eight goals in all competitions this season for the ‘Rekordmeister’.
Having been knocked off the top of the Bundesliga on Friday night by Borussia Dortmund, motivation couldn’t be higher here for Bayern, who despite having started so well by picking up 13 points from a possible 15, are yet to beat a potential title contender, drawing to Leverkusen and losing to Leipzig in the DFL-Supercup.

After proving such a nightmare for the Bayern backline after coming off the bench in the DFL-Supercup last month, Benjamin Sesko could well be given the nod ahead of Yussuf Poulsen from the start. Although the hat-trick hero of that match, Dani Olmo won’t be available on this occasion due to a knee injury. Neither will captain Willi Orban, whilst Timo Werner is also out.

Serge Gnabry’s broken arm sees him miss out, whilst Konrad Laimer is expected to play at right-back against his former club.

It’s hard to see this match being anything other than a thrill ride with goals surely on the menu. RB Leipzig have had the better of the Bayern Munich backline on one occasion already this campaign and with home advantage in their favour this time, may well be afforded further joy. However, the visitors will have Harry Kane in from the start rather than the bench, which is likely to substantially improve their cutting edge in front of goal, which was hugely lacking in the DFL-Supercup. Regardless of which way this encounter goes, back over 2.5 goals scored across 90 minutes.
